Hydropower

A bearing is never an end in itself. The essentials of a bearing are the functions that it must perform: freedom of movement combined with localization of the moving parts, allowing forces to be transferred efficiently, with as little maintenance as possible for decades, and at the lowest possible cost.
Our D-glide Spherical bearings do just that. Spherical bearings are not new. There used to be just two basic types: lubricated and maintenance-free. Lubricated bearings required grease to survive, maintenance free types did not, but had to be kept clean, dry and free of grease.

Our D-glide Spherical bearings do not have such limitations; the metal parts are made from high-grade stainless steel which, in combination with a D-glide sliding layer, results in spherical bearings that survive. They do not require lubrication, can be used dry or in water, withstand shock and vibration and continue to function in all environments long after other bearings have given up.
In the hydropower industry D-glide bearings in the form of bushings, thrust washers, bearing segments and other forms are used in arms, linkages, gates, locks, wicket gates, cleaning racks, hydraulic cylinders, valves and regulator rings etc.
